Stefano Boeri

Stefano Boeri is an Italian architect running practices in Milan and Shanghai. Graduated at Politecnico di Milano in 1980, he received his Ph.D from IUAV in 1989. He started his first office in Milan, Boeri Studio, with Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra, and since 2008 he is leading Stefano Boeri Architetti. In 2014, he opened an office in Shanghai.

Full Professor of Urban Planning at Politecnico di Milano, Boeri has been Guest Professor at various universities, including the Graduate School of Design at Harvard.

His design approach is a combination of architectural practice and research: he founded platforms for multidisciplinary territorial investigations in Milan (Multiplicity) and Shanghai (Future City Lab at Tongji University). His most recent projects include: the Vertical Forest in Milan (2014); the post-earthquake architectures in Amatrice an Norcia (Italy, 2017); urban masterplans, such as Tirana 2030 (Albania, 2016) and Regenerate Mantua (Italy, 2016).

His work has been awarded several prizes, such as China Award 2017 and the CTBUH 2015.

In 2018, he has been elected Chairman of La Triennale di Milano.
