Il cantiere della metropolitana di Napoli

The exhibition curated by Luigi Fregonese at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Mantova displays the archaeological evidences discovered during the construction of the new underground station Municipio in Naples, future interchange point between two lines and the touristic harbour. The need to produce adequate and detailed documentation of the found evidence (without affecting the efficiency of the excavation process) has been achieved through the use of advanced survey techniques for archaeology, such as digital photogrammetry and laser scanner. Such technological skills are being provided by the He.Su.Tech group at MantovaLAB of Politecnico di Milano, that since 2012 is cooperating with the Superintendence of Archaeology of Campania, thus meeting the needs of both the archaeologists and contractors involved.  Architects Alvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura are currently at work on the project of the station, a future landmark for the city of Naples.
