Guido Canali is an Italian architect, founder of the firm Canali Associati. He has been Professor of Architectural Composition at IUAV in Venice and at the University of Ferrara.
His works include the restoration of several, outstanding historic buildings in Italy, such as: Palazzo della Pilotta in Parma (1979-1990); the old hospital Santa Maria della Scala in Siena (1998-2000); Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Milano (2013). In parallel to the restoration projects, Guido Canali carried out several designs of new buildings, such as the SMEG Office Building (San Girolamo di Guastalla, 2006) and the Prada Shoes Factory (Montegranaro, 1997-2001). All the works carried out by Canali Associati are characterised by a careful interpretation of the space and the surrounding context.
Guido Canali has been awarded several prizes, such as: the prestigious Compasso D'oro in 2004; the mention to the Gold Medal of Italian Architecture in 2003, 2006 and 2009; the IN/ARCH-ANCE 2014 Career Award; the prize Brand & Landscape Triennale Award Milan in 2016.
