Francesco Cellini is an Italian architect, graduated in 1969 at the Faculty of Architecture of "La Sapienza" in Rome, where, from 1972 to 1986, he has been engaged in research and teaching activities with Ludovico Quaroni and Carlo Aymonino. He has taught at Università di Palermo and the Faculty of Architecture of Università degli Studi Roma Tre, being its Dean from 1997 to 2014, and where he is currently Professor and Director of the Master "Architecture, History and Design".
His research activities have been combined in strict relation with the professional ones, first with Nicoletta Cosentino and after with Insula Architettura e Ingegneria, a society founded by Cellini with a group of former students and collaborators.
Among the designs he carried out, there are: the requalification of Piazza Augusto Imperatore in Rome (ongoing); the Bagnoli Urban Park in Napoli (Italy, 2006); Ponte degli Annibaldi in Rome (1999); the Extension of the Cemetery in Baschi (Italy, 1999).
Cellini has received several recognitions, such as the 1991 Venice Biennale Prize and the prize "Presidente della Repubblica" for architecture in 1996. He has been member of the editorial boards of Controspazio (1978-1981) and Casabella (since 1996) magazines.
